The Wine Area

Located at the tip of Lot et Garonne we are spoilt with the wine territories of Duras, Bergerac, Monbazillac, Bordeaux and St Emilion sitting on our doorstep. Each area has wine routes that can be explored by car, or you can join one of many tour guides tailored to your taste. Alternatively, visit one of the Wine houses of the area (Maison du Vin) or one of the co-operative’s (Berticot in Duras), where you will find a warm welcome from the trained sommeliers who are happy to give you advice and a wine tasting to help you discover new wines. With over 900 winegrowers in the Duras/Bergerac area alone, with 10 appellations, 5 colours: let yourself be surprised by the wines of Bergerac and Duras!

Everyone has their favourites, and here are a few of ours. There are of course my any other vineyards to explore and we will be delighted to help you.

 

Domaine Grand Mayne- pays de Duras

Domaine du Grand Mayne lies in the Côtes de Duras, just a few kilometers from the vineyards of Bordeaux, south of the Dordogne River.  A delicious range of wines including a variety of reds, whites, rose, and a moelleux.

Domaine de Laulan - pays de Duras

Grape varieties are typical of the region: Sauvignon for the dry and sweet white wines, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec for the red and rosé wines.

Chateau Molhiere - pays de Duras

Just a few kilometers from the centre of Duras you will find a warm welcome by the vignerons of this chateau that offer a consistently good wine selection. You can also find their wines at Chai Rasade in Duras, a favorite wine/cafe/ice cream stop!

Chateau la Tuilerie du Puy - Bordeaux

The domain of Château la Tuilerie du Puy covers more than 80 hectares of vineyards in the largest wine region of Bordeaux: Entre-Deux-Mers and use three main grape varieties of Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle.

Chateau Carbonneau - Bordeaux

If you’re looking to combine a light lunch or tea and cake with your wine tour, then Chateau Carbonneau cannot be missed off your list. Sitting on a 50 hectare wine estate located in Pessac sur Dordogne in the Gironde region of France, belonging to the Franc de Ferrière family for several generations. The wines of Château Carbonneau come from a unique terroir, which gives the appellation Sainte-Foy Bordeaux. A full range of wines are available including their delicious sparkling white.

Chateau Bauduc (Bordeaux)

Further afield in Creon you’ll find a wine supplier to Gordon Ramsay and Rick Stein. Chateau Bauduc is just 45 minutes towards Bordeaux where Gavin and Angela Quinney welcome you to taste their wines (appointment recommended).

A thousand rows of vines are nestled in the 200-acre estate, producing white, red, rose, and a very good sparkling white. Also available from their UK warehouse. website
